All sessions are confidential between my client and myself. I do discuss sessions with my supervisor but clients remain anonymous.
Information from the sessions will not be shared with any other party unless there is an issue of safety to be considered or unless required by law. In this case the situation would be discussed with you before any action is taken.
I am aware that it may be frustrating for a parent or carer not to have access to details of their child's counselling sessions, but confidentiality is vital if trust is to develop and to enable the child to express difficult feelings if they need to.
I can give an opinion on a child's progress, or suggest strategies, which may be helpful to experiment with, with the child's permission.
I will also encourage children to communicate with their parent or carer as much as possible, as working in partnership can benefit all involved. It may be that the parent or carer attend occasional sessions if this feels appropriate.
Parents and carers need to remain on the premises of Kilver Court during counselling, dependant on the child's age. There are plenty of shops, a couple of cafes and some beautiful gardens to spend time in.
