The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.

About Charlotte

For as long as I can remember, I have been deeply curious about how people’s personalities develop. Alongside this, I have a strong desire to understand how different experiences and personality types shape people’s lives.

I’ve often been told that I am a calming presence, warm, gentle, compassionate, and deeply intuitive, with a quality of stillness that is both containing and allowing. Hearing that I offer clients an experience of being accepted exactly as they are, with no agenda, is truly moving and an honour.

I understand how hard it can be to feel unaccepted for who you truly are, and I also know the courage it takes to choose and stick to your own path.

Some of my natural traits, ike introversion and high sensitivity, have been met with criticism and judgment in the past, and I have doubted myself. But through my own therapy and self-care, I now see these qualities as strengths, especially in my work as a therapist.

They enable me to sit with people’s feelings and engage in deep reflection, helping to illuminate those shadowy areas that are often denied or ignored, yet would greatly benefit from being acknowledged and healed.

I was brought up with a “stop making a fuss and just get on with it” attitude, with little space for talking about uncomfortable feelings or difficult experiences. I have since turned this around, building a life-affirming career doing the exact opposite!

I aim to create a safe, encouraging, and containing space for you to explore your view of the world and the experiences that may have led to how you feel today.

You may not yet know why you feel the way you do, and that’s perfectly okay. I am here to listen to your story and help you join the dots.

Together, we’ll work to understand how you arrived where you are and explore how you can make positive, lasting changes for the future.

Most importantly, I want to support you in being who you want to be, embracing your authentic self and living your life with healthy ways to manage the complex emotions we all face.

Feedback from clients often includes feeling heard, valued, and “no longer drowning at sea but better able to ride the waves of life.”

“We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding and true empathy. Yet, listening of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.”

— Carl Rogers

Professional Experience

I have always worked within the caring professions, initially focusing on children in various roles: as a nanny, therapist for neurodivergent children and their families, research assistant at Great Ormond Street Hospital, and residential social worker in children’s homes.

Since gaining my MA in 2010, I have worked as an Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor in schools, charities, and private practice.

In 2012, after moving back to Somerset from London, I started a private practice at Kilver Court, Shepton Mallet, working with children, adolescents, and adults to overcome a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges.

Over time, I discovered my passion lies in working with teenagers and adults. Often, we carry parts of our ‘inner child’ with us into adulthood. Helping people untangle childhood experiences and explore challenging emotions allows them to move forward with healthier ways of managing feelings.

I now work both in person and online from my peaceful, dedicated therapy room upstairs in my home in Castle Cary, Somerset, a quiet, confidential space where I hope you can feel comfortable sharing your feelings.

In addition, I am a qualified Vegan Natural Chef, trained at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. I’m happy to incorporate this knowledge into therapy sessions if that is something you find helpful.

I also have a particular interest in the ‘replacement child’ phenomenon and am researching and blogging about this topic.
